On Saturday moring the Magic took on Rock Run, and got anr introduction to "B" level soccer and were down 3-0 at the half. In the second half, the Magic came out strong and controled the ball the majority of the half. Renee Unterberg counted for two goals and Grace Griffin made big saves (above her head!!) on two very well struck balls. While the Magic played a brilliant second half they lost 2-3.
The Saturday afternoon against Elgin Kickers the Magic came out sluggish again and went to half down 1-0. Renee and Ashley DiOrio accounted for two goals each. Reese Jeanes was unstoppable in goal and Kaia Hartley played aggressive defense. The Magic dominated the gamed and cruised to a 4-1 win.
Great win to finish off a HOT Saturday.
Sunday morning's opponent was Bartlet. The soccer gods spared us the heat and humidity, it was a beautiful Sunday morning. The played with a sense of urgency that translated into six different girls scoring goals (Victoria Craig, Grace Griffin, Renee Unterberg, Ashley DiOrio and Piper Campbell). Although the score was 6-3, Bartlet played a great game.
The win gave the Magic 30 minutes to recover and play for the Championship against Rock Run. Rock Run scored early and fast. The Magic defense was caught napping, but the girls got their heads on straight and finished the first half strong. Reese Jeanes came up with big saves in goal, and got the ball up the field quickly. Renee sent a PK into the top left corner of the goal, the match was tied at 1-1, and the momentum was with the Magic. The match ended regulation at 1-1 and went into overtime. Rock Run scored two goals in OT and went on to take first place. What a great experience for the Magic.
