Marty’s family moved to St. Charles when he was three years old, and he played in the TCSA Recreational League from 6-18 years old. At 14, he also became a referee for the TCSA Recreational League. He went to Illinois State University from 2001-2005, and would return home to referee games on weekends and after the end of the school year. Following graduation, he spent four years between Tinley Park and Lisle, continuing to come out to the Tri-Cities area on weekends to referee games. In May of 2009, Marty moved back to the area with his then girlfriend, Jenna, and has called the area his home again since. In 2013, Marty was tabbed to replace a retiring co-Director of Referees, where he has been leading the referee program joint with now TCSA President, Dave Perkins, since. Outside of the referee program, Marty is married to Jenna with no kids (unless their dogs count), works as a financial planner, and coaches a recreational league soccer team for TCSA.
For over 45 years, our community program has provided nurturing soccer experiences for kids aged 5 to 18. Led by parent coaches, teams practice one or two days weekly with TCSA staff support. Games are held on Saturdays across the Tri-Cities area. Over a 9-week season, emphasizing skill development and teamwork, our current Rec program prioritizes enjoyment over competition, ideal for children seeking fun and fitness. Register today!
